This short story was chosen because it contains ideological tensions between traditional Arab values and the dynamics of modernity in the early 20th century. The analysis was conducted to reveal the dialectical relationship between narrative structure and social structure through the concept of human facts as a form of meaningful action in a social context. The method used was qualitative-descriptive with literary text analysis focusing on intrinsic elements and the configuration of human facts. The results of the study show that this short story represents the Arab patriarchal system as a fundamental fait social, with the father figure occupying the center of moral and social authority. The main values reproduced include ṭā‘ah (obedience) as the highest virtue, collective responsibility, patriarchal authority, female honor as a symbol of family morality, and the construction of knowledge as a threat to women. The text also displays ideological contradictions, particularly between isolation and protection and between women's moral ideals and their limited social space. These contradictions reflect the limited awareness of the modern Arab middle class, which seeks to preserve tradition while negotiating with modern values. Theoretically, this study confirms the function of children's literature as a medium for the reproduction of social ideology during the historical transition phase of Arab society.

Keywords: Genetic Structuralism, Arab Family Values, Kamil Kaylani
Rian Muhamad Rian Nuryana Marsha Marsha Meliana Putri Anna Miftahul Khasanah Robi Muhammad Robi Akmaliyah Akmaliyah Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Salaka : Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Budaya Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-12-31 2025-12-31 7 2 68 78 Periodization of Modern Theater in Bogor 1950-1980 https://salaka-fisib.unpak.ac.id/index.php/salaka/article/view/34
This study examines the development of theater in Bogor from 1950 to 1980, with an emphasis on the dynamics of performances, the formation of theater groups, and the influence of social and political changes on local cultural expression. This study uses a historical method that includes four stages, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results show that in the 1950s, theater in Bogor was still experimental and limited to student groups with limited theoretical knowledge. However, an important momentum was created with the holding of the Drama Arts Week in 1955, which became the starting point for the development of theater in this region. In the 1960s, the emergence of theater groups such as Raksa Budaya and Tunas Muda signaled a significant change, with a more systematic and theoretical approach to staging. The influence of modern theater became increasingly apparent, especially with the establishment of the Bogor Theater Study (STB) group, which introduced a theoretical and critical approach to staging. In the 1970s, theater in Bogor was increasingly influenced by international theater developments, with dramaturgical experiments and performance forms that were more reflective of social and political conditions. This opened up space for more experimental and diverse theatrical works. This research shows that Bogor has played an important role in the history of modern Indonesian theater.

Keywords: theater development, Bogor theater studies, Bogor theater, modern theater
Reza Yudhistira Tenu Permana Muhammad Fadhilah Riandi Rachmat Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Salaka : Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Budaya Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-12-31 2025-12-31 7 2 79 88 Language Politeness in Valerie Patkar's Novel Serangkai: A Pragmatic Study https://salaka-fisib.unpak.ac.id/index.php/salaka/article/view/18

This study aims to describe the forms of compliance and violation of language politeness principles based on Geoffrey Leech's theory of politeness in Valerie Patkar's novel Serangkai, as well as to identify the cultural context that emerges in the novel. The background of this study is based on the phenomenon of language shift and maintenance in a multicultural university environment where students are faced with the demands of using regional languages, national languages, and global languages. The research method used was quantitative with a cross-sectional survey approach. Data collection instruments included a mother tongue dominance questionnaire adapted from the Bilingual Language Profile (BLP) and a language attitude scale based on cognitive, affective, and conative dimensions adapted from Baker (1992). The data were analyzed using SPSS 27 through validity and reliability tests, descriptive statistical analysis, normality tests, and Pearson's correlation test. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between mother tongue dominance and students' language attitudes, with a correlation coefficient of 0.213 and a significance of 0.009 (< 0.05). Although the strength was relatively weak, this finding confirmed that the more dominant the use of the mother tongue, the more positive the students' attitudes toward that language. IPB students of Class 62 showed positive attitudes towards their mother tongue, but remained adaptive to the use of national and international languages in the academic environment. This finding emphasizes the importance of preserving the mother tongue among students as part of preserving cultural identity and strengthening multilingual awareness. This study also recommends that campuses develop programs based on regional culture and language as a form of support for linguistic diversity in higher education.

Keywords: Mother Tongue Dominance, Language Attitude, IPB Students, Bilingualism, Multilingualism.
Risa Prayudhi Mukhlas Ansori Renny Soelistiyowati Dewi Indriani Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Salaka : Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Budaya Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-12-31 2025-12-31 7 2 98 103 Oral Tradition in The Closing Of Prayer Delivery at The Al-Yahdi Klambir V Foundation in The Medan Helvetia Subdistrict (Anthropological Linguistics Study) https://salaka-fisib.unpak.ac.id/index.php/salaka/article/view/23
This study aims to describe the form of oral tradition in the closing of prayer activities at the Al-Yahdi Klambir V Foundation in Medan through an anthropological-linguistic perspective. The focus of the study is on the use of Shalawat Pembuka Pintu Rezeki (Prayer for Opening the Door to Sustenance) as the closing of the yasinan ritual, which is a unique linguistic and cultural phenomenon. The research uses a qualitative approach with an anthropological ethnographic design through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The analysis was conducted by looking at the relationship between language form, cultural context, social function, and symbolic meaning in the practice of oral tradition. The results of the study show that the recitation of Shalawat not only functions as a religious expression but also as a medium for conveying cultural values that strengthen group identity, solidarity, and continuity of tradition. Linguistically, the repetition, intonation, language formulas, and performativity in Shalawat are markers of local wisdom and living cultural expressions. This study confirms that oral traditions in religious rituals are a form of cultural practice that is passed down through language and performance.

Keywords: Oral Tradition, Prayer Delivery, Anthropolinguistics
Tria Wardani Nurul Ramadhan Mutiara Ramadhan Nursukma Suri Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Salaka : Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Budaya Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-12-31 2025-12-31 7 2 104 109 Wawacan as a Medium for Da'wah: Islam and Sundanese Culture in the Story of Perbu Kean Santang https://salaka-fisib.unpak.ac.id/index.php/salaka/article/view/40
This study examines Wawacan Perbu Kean Santang as a traditional Sundanese literary text that represents Islamic preaching through a cultural approach. The character Kean Santang in the wawacan is positioned as a symbolic figure who reflects the process of acculturation between Islamic teachings and Sundanese culture in the context of Islamization in West Java. This study aims to analyze the form, content, and strategies of Islamic preaching conveyed through the narrative and symbolic structure of the text. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a philological and cultural literary approach. The data consists of text excerpts containing Islamic preaching values, such as tauhid, akhlak, worship, and moral values. The results show that Islamic preaching in Wawacan Perbu Kean Santang is conveyed through symbolic narratives and heroic figures that are in harmony with the Sundanese way of life, thus enabling the peaceful acceptance of Islam without negating local traditions. This study confirms that wawacan functions not only as a literary work but also as a medium for preaching and a means of cultural acculturation in the process of locally based Islamization.

Keywords: cultural acculturation, Islamic preaching, Kean Santang, Sundanese literature, wawacan
Ramadhian Fadillah Dedi Supriyadi Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-12-31 2025-12-31 7 2 111 115 The Development of the Main Character's Personality in Y.B. Mangunwijaya's Novel Rara Mendut: A Sigmund Freud Psychoanalytic Study https://salaka-fisib.unpak.ac.id/index.php/salaka/article/view/44
This study aims to describe and analyze the structure of the novel Rara Mendut by Y.B. Mangunwijaya based on Robert Stanton's theory and the development of the main character's personality through Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, and the data collection technique uses literature study. The results of this study indicate that Rara Mendut, as a steadfast character who resists coercion, reflects resistance to authority. The harmonious structure of the novel in terms of plot, characters, and setting reinforces this theme. Psychoanalytic analysis reveals a balance between natural drives (id) and social demands (superego) in Rara Mendut, indicating psychological maturity. Her conflicts are not only personal but also symbolic (such as cigarettes and the sea), representing resistance to an oppressive system. The study concludes that the main character is more influenced by the id than by external pressures. These findings emphasize the need for a multidisciplinary approach (structural and psychoanalytical) to understand the complexity of literature. Rara Mendut is not only an aesthetic work, but also a reflection of human psychological and social dynamics.

Keywords: Personality Development, Psychoanalysis, Robert Stanton.
Virnandi Agitama Agatha Trisari Swastikanthi Prapto Waluyo Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-12-31 2025-12-31 7 2 116 126 Cultural Identity Construction of Lampung in Traditional Songs https://salaka-fisib.unpak.ac.id/index.php/salaka/article/view/45
This study aims to examine the construction of Lampung cultural identity in traditional songs of the Saibatin and Pepadun communities. Employing a qualitative approach with an ethnographic method, the study analyzes 18 Lampung traditional songs obtained from the YouTube platform. Data were collected through documentation and non-participant observation of song lyrics, audio- visual performances, and their contexts of presentation, and were analyzed interpretatively through thematic and symbolic coding. The analysis applies Stuart Hall’s theory of representation and cultural identity, reinforced by Berger and Luckmann’s theory of the social construction of reality and a symbolic anthropology approach. The findings indicate that Lampung traditional songs represent cultural elements including religion, kinship, knowledge systems, language, arts, livelihoods, and material culture, which are constructed through the processes of externalization, objectivation, and internalization. Traditional songs function as cultural texts that represent, transmit, and negotiate Lampung cultural identity dynamically, including within the context of digital media transformation.

Keywords: cultural construction, cultural identity, Lampung traditional songs, oral tradition, representation
Jafar Fakhrurozi M.
